The Remains of the Day

I was inspired by this scene as we drove along Highway 41 East of Kettleman City. The haze and sun made for quite a scene. The farmer was nice and stopped to ask if we were lost.

 •
Moonlight Play

The moon came up over the dunes and we had to stop and capture this image of the FJ.

I knew I wanted to moon to look as large as possible so I grabbed by 100-400 lens (looking to get the depth compression with the high magnification) and ran for the surf. I had to go quite a bit further than I expected to get the framing I wanted. I ultimately had to stop before I walked into the water.
 • This was an old milk truck that was sitting at a something like a tourist stop along Highway 99.
 • I had to take this picture because I could. This is the tunnel in Yosemite. What was amazing was how there was so little traffic there that I could stand in the middle of the road in the opening of the tunnel with my camera on a tripod!
 • Bridalveil Falls is in the background. There was no snow in Yosemite but it was cold enough to ice up the falls at night.
 • Milk bottles in the old milk truck.
 • The field and valley walls just seem to command that a portrait be taken in the field.
 • This was a balcony that is shared by just two guest rooms on the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite. It is big enough to play basketball.

I did this as a stitch with the point and shoot. It shows how you have to take care while doing it otherwise they don't turn out well (like this one.)
 • The upper portion of Yosemite Falls. It was cold and not much water was flowing.
 • The field and valley walls just seem to command that a portrait be taken in the field.
 • Ice that has formed in the Merced River.

I changed this into a doutone image.
 • A reflection in Merced River in Yosemite National Park.
