San Diego - Gaslamp Quarter - Jan. 2008

Louise and I took a long weekend in San Diego. We rode the Amtrak train down and then the Trolley to the Gaslamp Quarter. We stayed at the Hard Rock hotel and spent our time wondering about the Gaslamp Quarter. It was great.

• Getting ready to catch the train in Irvine on Saturday morning.
The train is just pulling in after being 20 minutes late.
• After arriving in San Diego's Santa Fe station we simply had to walk across the street to catch the Orange Line of the Trolley system.
• We did have to wait a bit for the trolley to arrive. So we wandered about the platform and nearby streets. It wasn't bad. I think it just set the mode for the trip. We were going to be relaxed and not in a hurry.
• The plaza that the trolley station was in was neat. I liked the architecture of it.

• The down town area of San Diego has many high rise apartment/condo buildings. The condos on the top floors of some of these buildings can have their own elevator access. They can be as large as 6,000+ sq. ft. and cost as much as $8M.
• We loved our hotel room at the Hard Rock. It was like a suite with two separate areas each with it's own 42" Plasma TV. They put a lot of work into the interior decor.
• The bar in the room. It was a typical in room bar but it did go one step beyond others. One of the items included for purchase in the bar was tear away briefs. (2 pairs)
They certainly were expecting a party.
• I had to play taking pictures in the room.

• This was amusing only because we had talked about bringing our own margarita fixings.
If you avail your self of these items, it was going to cost you $120 with the shaker included.
• This was certainly a nice piece in the room.
I really like the way they had done the lighting.
• This was funny. This is how they stored a second roll of toilet paper in the room. This sat on the back of the toilet.
• We even thought the shower was great. It was a rain shower design. So you could have the water come from the top and/or the side.
• LOL
I just noticed that some of the lights were out in the sign.
The gateway to the Gaslamp Quarter.
• There was a fountain that we liked. I kept trying to take pictures of it but this is the best I could do at the time.
